0 Question: Why is the sea blue? :D Keywords: blue, sea Asked by cai192546 to Amy, Drew, Julia, Kimberley, Sara on 22 Jun 2011.
Drew Rae answered on 20 Jun 2011:
Hi Cai! Easy question – because it reflects the sky! Unless it is filled with heavy metal, water isn’t blue itself. Fill a jug from the sea and take it indoors to check!

I agree with Drew!!! 🙂
Julia Griffen answered on 20 Jun 2011:
It reflects the sky! unless it contains lot sof algea then somtimes it appears greeny in that case… or lots of mud then browny..
Sara Imari Walker answered on 22 Jun 2011:
Hi cai!! Mostly it is because water surfaces reflect light strongly in blue wavelengths. Check out this great description I found through google: http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/oceanblue.html
I found it pretty interesting!!!
