I have no idea why it is called the immune system, perhaps it is derived from a Latin word. Any suggestions anyone?

The word immune originally comes from a latin word meaning “exempt from” – it has since been used as a term for the system in our bodies which fights infection as it exempts or “protects” us from disease.
