• Question: why does water have a PH 7 but then you can get fizzy water too?

      So pH is a measure of acidity..
      So water is H2O… which is in constant balance bwteen H2O and H3O+ and OH-
      You can think of acidity as measuring the amount of hydrogen ions in solution (H+ or H3O+)..

      Fizzy water isn’t fizzy due to pH..but is fizzy due to having lots of carbon dioixe dissolved it in… This results in the water becoming slightly acidic due to the carbon dioxide CO2 forming carbonic acid H2CO3 in the water. Which is turned back into water and carbon dioxide when you release the pressure by opening the bottle! ph of fixxy water unopened = pH 3-4..

      As Julia has said fizzy water has a different pH because of the carbon dioxide dissolved in it. Really great question!
