• Question: Why does puberty happen?

      Puberty happens so that our bodies become capable of reproducing. It is started by hormone signals from the brain to the gonads, which then make hormones that bring about the physical changes associated with puberty.

      If we didn’t go through puberty we wouldn’t be able to have children and it is a normal part of growing up.

      Hey all… Puberty is us getting older.. Its our hormones being turned on.. its us turning from children into adults… and importanty is switching on our reproductive organs.. for males the hormone is testosterone for females is estrogen and progesterone.

      Hi Guys. Most animals have at least two stages of their lives – some have a lot more than that. In the first stage the job is to grow, to learn things, and sometimes to store up food for other stages.

      Humans are very intelligent, so we have a very long first stage just geting our brains, bodies and our memory of what the world is like up to full speed before we need to start looking after our own kids.

      Puberty is the transition to the next stage of the human life-cycle. Because our society has developed way faster than evolution can keep up with, our bodies get ready for kids quite a few years before our minds and our bank accounts. In the same way that some insects store up fat because they can’t eat during their breeding phase, we build up knowledge and cash because of how expensive kids can be!
