Hello chloe! Rain is part of a very complex water cycle in our environment. Rivers, lakes, and oceans can all produce water vapor as warm air drives molecules of water evaporate from the surface. This water vapor forms clouds. Clouds contain small drops of water or ice crystals (this can depend on how high the cloud is and how cold it is and leads to a lot of different and interesting kinds of clouds!). As clouds rise, the air gets colder. Cold air causes the water vapor to condense back to liquid water and rain down on the Earth. Viola! We have rain! Thank goodness we do too – we rely on this cycle for almost everything!!
