      Hi Celtic. Straight to the point – I like that. I get a real buzz from talking about science, so taking part is actually most of the fun. I do want to try out the idea of an online safety game / challenge, and I can’t do that without a bit of money to pay a student to do some of the programming. There aren’t many ways to get small amounts of money for that sort of thing, so it would be nice to win and be able to do that.

      Hi celtic and angelanjeza!! This experience is amazingly fun. I have had such a great experience sharing my favorite things in science with all of you. I would love to win because the money would give me the opportunity to develop a website to keep the momentum from this IAS experience going! My field, astrobiology, is a really new science. We have a lot of really amazing and enthusiastic young people that convey science well to the public, but not a lot of people know what we do. I’d like to do something with my money from IAS that would reach as many people as possible. And, I think it would be fantastic to have a publicly available website for young astrobiologists to engage the public in their science. This would be a website for people curious about the universe to visit and learn interesting science while also learning about what young scientists do in our daily life including science and non-science (to show them that yes we are real people!). The website would include a question and answer section – so anyone could visit and ask questions about science, life, and the universe – with answers provided by the young astrobiology “bloggers” on the site (my goal is to have around 15). The questions could be something just like what we are doing here at IAS. It would also include video interviews, and field site diaries (like when astrobiologists visit antartica or the atacama desert – analog field sites for Europa and Mars respectively). I am envisioning all sorts of things to engage everyone in the search for life in the universe! I am really excited about getting it up and running! I think it would be an amazing website for students like you to post ideas and ask questions =)

      So basically I’d like to win because I have learned a lot from participating in IAS and I think I could do a really good job launching a public website (available internationally!) that would engage people in science. Plus as Drew says its just fun to win 😉

      Hey guys!!!

      I would love to win because I feel that I could use the money well to reach out to kids who don’t normally get much science in school and do really fun experiments in the lab with them! They would get to spend a day with real scientists and do their own little mini project! 🙂 Originally I thought of doing this with schools in the local-ish area….but after chatting to some of you it sounds like you would be keen for the prize money to impact you guys – by maybe getting you down to cambridge for a trip and some awesome science!!

      I’m not sure how far the money would stretch for that but maybe if some school’s could put some resources towards it we could make that a possibility! 🙂 🙂

      And well, its lovely to take part in things – and I am enjoying it immensely! But it is also nice to win stuff right?! 🙂 Its amazing how the questions you guys are asking are really making people think! I have been chatting to lots of other scientists and sharing your questions with them – some have learned a lot from me telling them what you have been asking and the answers I have been giving. Scientists can get very specialised in a particular area and stop thinking about the bigger picture – your questions are really making them think more!! So good work!! I’m a Scientist…keep me in here!! 🙂 Have a fab day people!

      I’d like to win so I can do something cool in schools. some fun experiments…

      I went to do a demo in a school last month, and they just didn;t have the money for the kit to do experiments on a regular basis.. If i could bring some cool experiments to students in schools… Hoefully They’ll likek it 🙂
