      Because changing the colour of cells allows us to see all the different things going on in the body.

      You are made up of lots of different cell types such as brain cells (neurons), muscle cells and skin cells. We can make each individual cell type glow a different colour by using special proteins to tell them apart and then look at what is happening only in that kind of cell. We can also make specific parts of the cell different colours such as the nucleus, which is like the instruction manual for the cell. Apart from giving very pretty pictures, we can use this information to tell if something is going wrong in the cell in a disease.
