      Hey yasminwalter,

The belly button is left over from when you were a baby in your mother’s womb. While in the womb you had an umbilical cord that went from where your belly button is to your mother’s placenta, giving you food and oxygen. Once you have been born they cut it off and you breathe on your own. Your belly button is a scar from where the umbilical cord was cut.

Hope that this answers your question 🙂

Hey dude! We have a belly button because that is where the umbilical cord that attached us to our mother’s placenta was – through this cord we got everything that we needed to survive inside our mum’s womb. That belly button was pretty important! Neat huh?

      🙂

      Hi Yasmin,
We used to be connected to our mum’s via an umbilical cord, while in the womb, from our belly to our mum’s womb.
The umbilical cord is cut once we’re born, this heals and falls off to leave us with a belly button scar!
whether its an inny or an outie is pur luck!

I think the others pretty much covered it. I am interested to learn that it is scar. That’s pretty crazy! I hadn’t quite thought of it that way before. Now what I want to know is why some are innie and some our outie! Anyone have any ideas?
