Luke – the honest answer is that as a way of getting from A to B, cars are not eco-friendly. Hence, responsible disposal is the only way to make a car eco-friendly.

Failing that, hybrid vehicles achieve small gains in emissions of greenhouse gasses, even once you take power generation into account.

Dont drive them!… The most eco friendly cars dont procuce any fumes.. so electric cars and fuel cell (e.g hydrogen) dont produce any fumes.. However how was the electricity and hydrogen generates?? some fossil fuel must have been burn along the way to produce these alternative fuel sources..

Other options: Biodiesel , is an interchange between fossil fuels and greener technologies as uses plant materials to make the fuel, however this fuel still produces carbon dioxide, althou this carbon dioxide could be taken up by the plants which are used to make the biodielse.. we call this CARBON NEUTRAL!

Cars aren;t the most eco friendly way of travelling.. public tansport is much better… obvioulsy walking and cycling are the best 🙂

Any more questions on this topic ask away.. I quite like environmental issues and stuff 🙂

I like Julia’s answer!!!! Good question Luke – are you interested in car design? if you are improving eco-friendliness is probably a good line to go down! 🙂

Hi luke. I think biofues and electric cars are great, but I am personally holding out for solar powered vehicles. We are a long way off right now. For one, photovoltaic (PV) cells used in solar panels to convert the Sun’s energy to electricity are really expensive. Also they take up a lot of space, so its hard to fit enough on a small vehicle. Even so, I am fairly confident some clever engineers will figure out something cool! That would be fantastic – no waste, and plenty of energy from the Sun!
