• Question: what different cells are there in our body

      There are lots of different kinds of cells in our body – was it any particular type that you wanted to know about? Each organ in our body has its own special kind of cells e.g. liver cells for liver, heart cells for heart, brain cells (neurons) for the brain. There are also blood cells to carry food and oxygen, immune cells to fight diseases.

      Hey! As Kimberley said there are lots of different types of cell in our body!! Every part of us is made of cells and they are all suited to their function. What is interesting is that most of our body cells are not actually us but the bacteria that live on us and inside of us – 90% in fact!!! 🙂 seems a bit yukkers!!

      Many different cells… thousands some are similar some are dramatically different and all have a different jobs. e.g there are at least four different cells in our blood alone! the cells that pump our heart will be different from the cells thatare in our lungs to absorb oxygen…

      Hello rmcaneney! Wow I didn’t realize their were quite so many varieties of cells. That’s wild! I only just learned Amy’s awesome factoid about a month ago. I was stunned to learn most of my lunchtime sandwich goes to feeding bacteria and not me, since most of “me” is bacteria!! Now that is crazy!!
