More money for science. We don’t get paid enough and we need more money to fund all our research – experiments are expensive.

Good question. I’d give a similar answer to Kimberley, but what I would change is the way money is allocated. Almost all young researchers spend their time trying out the ideas of older people during the time when their brains are best at coming up with new ideas.

I think that there needs to be more knoweldge transfer between scientists. I have no idea how this would work practically – science is competitive (because funding is) and this is probably a good thing for motivating people’s productivity but sometimes it is frustrating that everyone is working on similar things but all being really secretive!! The other thing would be journals publishing not just cool stuff but also negative results – this would save hundreds of other people repeating the same experiment for no reason and little reward!! 🙂

Invest more money into it.. make equipment cheaper and more jobs….

haha just read Kimerley.. we’re along the same lines 🙂

Hi msummers! I think I would put more money into fundamental science! So yes! I really agree with the others, we don’t have enough money to do science really. We do the best we can, but better funding would help. And more appropriate distribution of funding would also help!! I think we should put more funding into out-of-the-box thinkers, people who are not afraid to take risks with there science. That could help make progress on a lot of major problems – including things like cancer research.

      What would you change???
