I am not sure whether there is scientific reason for attraction I once heard that it is to do with how symmetrical a person’s face is. I find that if the person is nice and they make you feel special then you usually find you are attracted to them. What does everone else think?

      Hi melissa,

There can be a lot of reasons and a lot of scientists and sociologists look at things like this. Usually physical appearance plays a major role which may involve facial symmetry, how fit someone is, smell etc. Apparently it can also be associated with how different a person is from you immunologically! The more different their immune system was from you in certain ways the better chance your children with them had of diversity and subsequent survival. I met someone on friday who is looking at this! But in my own experience as well as all the physical things you have to be attracted to someone’s personality and their character. This is maybe not the initial attraction but if someone looks good but is really nasty they soon begin to look uglier to you – and vice versa!! 🙂

They did some research in Italy that suggests that it is a very similar brain behaviour to obsessive compulsive disorder. Makes sense to me – love is crazy!
