• Question: Have you watched Misfits? If so, do you believe it is scientifically correct - for example, do you think a lighting stike could cause mutations leading to unnatural powers and abilities?

I haven’t seen it …but going by the question I would say …eh…no a lightning strike would probably kill you not give you an unnatural power or ability!! unfortunately! 🙂

Hi akyofori – there’s no reason lightning would cause mutation, and even if it did, it would be their kids who be mutated when they were born, not the people hit by the lightning strike.

Hey… Yeah I’ve watched the misfits, I really liked it.. Much prefered the 1st season!

The reason why it is so good thou, is that the likely hood of the ‘science’ being possible is completely impossible.. hence its complete fantasy and fun to watch!

Hi akyofori! Electrical storms are often used in sci-fi as sources of mutations for superheros. Never really was able to get my head around that one! As the others have said it is really not possible for electrical storms to cause mutations, particularly not in the person struck (though maybe in their offspring?). It’s a neat idea though, and definitely fun to think about!! Although I think it falls under one of those “Don’t try this at home” scenarios …

I’ve never seen the Misfits (its not on US tv =( ) but it sounds pretty cool!
