To be honest I need to put in a lot of work to pick up new ideas. I was the kid at school who had to revise loads to get good marks. Unlike some of my friends who could somehow just absorb the information. I’ll always be jealous of people like that!!!
I am constantly having to learn new things with my work so I just ensure I keep up-to-date with recent findings and be organised! This helps massively!
However not all doom and gloom, once I begin to learn more it becomes easier to pick up!
I don’t understand why it says I haven’t answered this question – I think the website has been having problems!! So sorry this answer seems to have been a long time in coming!
Sometimes I do struggle to understand what I do – some scientific papers are written in a really confusing way and some concepts are hard to get your head around. But there is always someone that you can ask and that is what is so brilliant about science. The internet is a good tool as well to help you find out stuff!
We will never know everything so its a lifelong learning progress – but some things do get easier as you go along! 🙂
Can I poke my head into this question too? A lot of the time I have to “borrow” bits from other parts of science – sometimes even from the social sciences. I’m not an expert in these things, so I have to learn enough about them to use them.
Just following a recipe without understanding it can lead you in the wrong direction, so it isn’t like plugging numbers into a formula you don’t understand, but no one can be an expert in everything.
