Hi Samantha! I haven’t yet done field work. But I would love too. I have friends that go to all kinds of places like the north pole, antartica, and the atacama desert (the driest place on Earth). A lot of times they use these as analog field sites for different planet environments. For example atacama is often used for Mars and antartica as a site to study things relevant to Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. Studying these extreme environments on Earth helps us understand other parts of the solar system much better, and despite there remoteness on Earth they are still much closer than going to Mars or Europa!

What I really want to do for a field expedition is go meteorite hunting in antartica. This is one of my all time dreams! I know people that do it. They go out there and watch meteorites fall from the sky and then go pick them up before they are contaminated. Sounds amazing!!!
