Hi Isloan662! I think I did enjoy science in secondary school, but I would never have imagined I would be a scientist. I say “I think I did enjoy it”, because honestly I don’t remember science sticking out for me anymore than any other subject. I used to be really into art and history and other subjects more than science. Back then, I couldn’t ever picture myself as a scientist – scientists seemed so different than the average person! So, although I found the subject fun, I didn’t really get into science until around the time I was 18, when I took my first physics class. At that moment I was like “wow!” this subject is amazing, and it can tell us soooo much about the world we live in. In part my enthusiasm was driven by a really awesome teacher. But, I think a lot of things in life are like this – one day you just find something you are really passionate about and you go for it! Now that I am a scientist, I realize that most scientists are just really cool normal people who share a love for exploration – a pretty cool group to be a part of!

      Hi Isloan!
Do you enjoy science then? What’s your fav subject?

Personally I did enjoy science at secondary school, I had a good teacher which helped to enthuse us all into the experimental and practical side of science. That’s why I still enjoy science, for the practical hands on stuff! Complicated cookery is how I describe it 🙂 measuring and mixing.
And like sara it wasn;t my favourite subject, art was my top achieving lesson, and I still do art as a hobby today to balance science vs art! lol.

      Hi Isloan and Nicole,
Some bits of science I liked, but some were pretty boring. I liked physics, but I hated chemistry – there was too much to remember that I knew I could just look up if I really needed to know it.

How about you? Do you enjoy science? You could use the comments to tell us if there are bits that you like or don’t like.

Hey! I did…but not to start with! Actually I thought science was rubbish and my worst subject when I was 12 but then I had a brilliant biology teacher when I was 14 and that really helped to get me excited about science! I think who your teachers are really influences whether you like something or not…also the older you get the more interesting stuff they tend to teach you so sometimes it doesn’t seem that interesting early on! 🙂

      Hello!

Yes, I did enjoy science at secondary school although I preferred biology and chemistry to physics. I really liked the chemistry lessons I had from 13 onwards as I had the best teacher and she was really enthusiastic about the subject. I think that you enjoy something if you get good grades although sometimes you have to work hard at something initially to get to enjoy it.

Science can be really exciting and I loved being able to do experiments rather than write essays!
