• Question: could you ever beat your shadow in a race ?

      Hi Rachel. Cool question. If there is light shining from the ground at the finish line, and you jump over the line, there will be a gap between you and your shadow when you cross the line. Your shadow will catch up to you when you land, though.

      If you shine light evenly from all directions, your shadow will give up and go home and you can have the race all to yourself.

      Hi Rachel!! I like Drew’s answer!! That is clever. I was going to say you could just keep the light in front of you so your shadow was always behind you, but I think Drew’s idea works much much better! Are you going to test it out?
