Hello cody! Yes you can really float in a rocket in space. So long as the rocket is not accelerating, there are no forces in free space to keep you stuck on the ground. Think about an elevator for example. You know the extra force you feel when pulling you down when you are going up a few floors? Well that is from the acceleration of the elevator! Without any gravity you would float in the elevator all the time, unless it was accelerating in which case you would stick to the floor. Neat huh?Another cool thing: astronauts on the international space station actually have to tie themselves down to sleep!

Well, given that you can float in a rocket in space, the answer to the second part of your question is yes! You can in fact eat crisps in mid air in space!!

Hi Cody. Sara has answered your question, so I’ll just add – you could eat crisps, but watch out for the crumbs! They would just float about or get sucked into the air vents until the rocket started accelerating, and then they would fall to the back of the rocket.

its a messy way to eat crisps…so if your mum was also in the rocket I would eat some weird non-crumb forming space food instead. That way you could avoid tidying up after yourself!! 🙂
